India, SA teams set to bowl over Wayanad

All arrangements are in place for the first four-day international cricket match to be held at the Kerala Cricket Association’s (KCA) Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad district from August 18.

The two four-day international matches between India A and South Africa A would be held from August 18 to 21, and from August 25 to 28, T.C. Mathew, president, KCA, said on Sunday.

Both the teams would start their practice sessions on the ground from Monday, he said adding that as many as five pitches were laid for practice sessions, apart from the four pitches laid for the matches. He said the KCA would try to organise more international matches on the ground in the near future.

This is the first time that Krishnagiri Stadium, the lone high-altitude stadium in South India, is hosting an international cricket match. A warm reception was given to both the teams at Muthanga on Sunday.

Ambati Rayudu will lead the Indian team. Karun Nair is the vice-captain. Abhinav Mukund, Ankush Bains, Shreyas Iyer, Baba Aparajith, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Yadav, Axar Patel, Karn Sharma, Abhimanyu Mithun, Shradul Thakur, Ishwar Pandey, Sheldon Jackso and Jiwanjot Singh are the other team members.

Dane Vilas, captain, and Reeza Hendricks, vice-captain, will lead the South African team. Temba Bavuma , Gihahn Cloete , Theunis de Bruyn , Marchant de Lange , Beuran Hendricks , Reeza Hendricks , Keshav Maharaj , Dane Paterson, Dane Piedt, Omphile Ramela , Lonwabo Tsotsobe , Stiaan van Zyl , Hardus Viljoen David Wiese and Quinton d coke are the other players in the team.
